Amid cheers, Delta State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has continued its mobilization exercise with a mega rally in Okwagbe, Ughelli south local government area of the state.

At the rally organized to welcome defectors at Okwagbe Waterside, they were charged to work for the landslide victory of the party come 2023.

The aggrieved members of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) running into hundreds on Thursday December 1st 2022, decamped to SDP with the governorship candidate of the party, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, OON, assuring them of good governance.

Addressing the decampees, Gbagi observed that the PDP, APC and most political parties in the country are populated by former members of the SDP.

He disclosed that the doors of SDP are open to those who desire to come back to the party.

He noted that the decampees returned home to their family, a family that doesn’t discriminate, calling on those who wants to return to feel free to do so as working together, would bring victory to the party in the 2023 polls.

The largest private investor in the state commended the courage of the decampees for returning to the party they originally belong, saying, “we have every reason to rejoice today, we need to work together for the large population of Ughelli South to translate to actual votes, this is the time for the people of Ughelli South to vote for liberation.

“It is in the best interest of the Urhobo people to return and remain in SDP, the platform Olorogun Felix Ibru and MKO Abiola won the most freest, fairest and credible elections in the history of Nigeria and Delta State.

“We will achieve the Delta State of our dream where everyone will relate as brothers and sisters when we work in unity”.

Also speaking, a preacher of the gospel, Revd Oke Iyidi, charged the decampees to work with their hearts and minds ahead of the election.

Revd Iyidi, who pastor’s with St. Lazarus Christ Church Int’l, charged them to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) to chase out bad governance of the PDP and enthrone that of SDP in the next general elections.

According to him: “This is what is going to happen and that is what has already happened, Gbagi, is the one that is going to be the governor of this state.

“So because of this I want to advise everyone of us who is going to defect today, please defect with your hearts, minds and defect to work for the party and not only money.

“Some people will be looking for money to share, no. But work, when you work and when it comes to pass, you will benefit.

“As you are working, please remember you cannot vote with ordinary hands, your PVC must be with you. Your PVC is your power, please if you don’t have, go and collect your own”.
