Former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the annual lecture of the Murtala Muhammed Foundation has appealed to his colleagues, the older generation of politicians, to step down and give way to the younger generation in the building of a better Nigeria.
They (old politicians) should be setting aside and sharing their knowledge and experience with you you should be giving it to those coming after you so that we make sure that the experiences we have, we can give to you, and you should be able to start giving it to those coming after you.
That way we can make sure that the experiences we have (accumulated), we are passing it down to those of you coming behind rather than start competing with you.
He noted that it is necessary to make sure the younger generations have access to what you can use to make Nigeria better than you found it.
