2027: WHO’S AFRAID OF OBOREVWORI? By Norbert Chiazor

This life! Out of about 4 million irrepressible people, fate placed a crown on one man.

The Almighty patterns our lives. Divine decider. The ultimate captain of our fortunes.

I watched Rt.Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori take oath of office in 2023 and concluded that the man has fulfilled his destiny.

What can be more enigmatic!

How lofty is it to be the governor of Delta state! The jewel of Africa’s biggest nation.

How did simple Sheriff rise to glory, Olympic in grandeur?.

Favour!

The race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong. Just time and chance. Salient scripture.

This extends my thoughts to 2027 political future.

Two years to the blast of election whistle, Delta is in tenterhooks with all manners of political intrigues as Oborevwori stands stoic in service.

The opposition is beating drums panting in panic and propaganda.

Far from the hullabaloo, Oborevwori is basking in better venture.

He is working. Seriously.

Warri is rising again developing gradually to a mega city. Asaba is expanding, befitting of a state capital. There is salutary attention to trans Ode-Itsekiri bridge linking several communities. The much neglected riverine settlements across Delta are on the cusp of face lift.

The sum of N2bn has been budgeted this year for each local government area in the state to enhance rural development.

Ughelli /Asaba / Ogwashi Uku expressway looks better today with much construction in sight. The four state owned universities at Abraka, Anwai Asaba, Agbor and Ozoro are functioning with additional facilities for learning. Oborevwori has ignited a revolution in Delta technical colleges, as the schools are now fabricating doors among others in commercial quantity, poised to boost local economy.

Two huge fire stations are sprouting in Abraka and Okpe to manage emergencies. Different skill acquisition and empowerment programmes are changing lives in Delta.

After just 2 years in office , Oborevwori has much to show in governing Delta. When it is time for Deltans to go to the polls, his bold works would certainly speak for him.

More profoundly, the survival of Delta as a multi ethnic state depends on power rotation and equity.

Government timeline since 1999 captures an 8 -year governorship arrangement.

Chief James Ibori ,Delta Central
( 1999- 2007) Dr.Emmanuel Uduaghan, Delta South ( 2007- 2015), Sen.Dr.Ifeanyi Okowa Delta North (2015- 2023)

Delta baton of unity now firmly in Oborevwori’s hands should run to the time honoured peak witnessed by his predecessors. The order is both moral and divine.Yet everything is in God’s hands.

This explains why Sheriff is of good cheer, calm. Facing the task of governance and trusting the future with humble supplication. That is what wise men do.

Conversely the opposition appeared to be cocksure of a distant day they have no control of, making loud feast in the strangest of places – castle in the air.

Which mortal knows tomorrow? Why dance Kiss Daniels “buga” now, when the future is not for us to tell?

Why is there unnecessary frenzy about 2027 when God only, owns tomorrow?.

Who is afraid of Oborevwori and the womb of time?

Who is boasting everywhere to take over a boat still far in the deep sea?

Let the delusional and the proud listen to Doris Dey’s “Que Sera Sera” !
