A 22 years old boy, identified as Godwin from the Elebele Community of Ogbia Local Government area of Bayelsa state has stabbed his mother to death over alleged failed attempts to use her for ritual purposes.
The killer son, according to community sources, came back to the community few weeks ago after months of sojourn in Benin City, Edo State at a Yahoo boys training center popularly referred to as HK.
While some claimed that a pastor in Elebele had forwarned the deceased mother of the impending danger and offer of strange gift from her son, she was told to reject any strange gift from the son.
Others claimed the killer son returned to the community with strange behaviour and kept away from his childhood friends and making claims that one “Baba” had warned him that his destiny and wealth is held back by his deceased mother.
The Youth President of the Elebele Community, Comrade Precious Okala,while confirming the incident to journalists on Monday, said his attention was drawn to the incident around 6 pm on the fateful day and on arrival at the scene, ” we saw the bloodied corpse of the deceased woman and his son that had been tied by the youths of the community.”
“We were told that since the boy came back from Benin City, Edo State, he has been behaving in a strange manner. On the fateful day, he was reported to have had a struggle with the mother and stabbed her with a knife in the stomach.”
“The boy was heard saying that one “Baba” had told him that the mother is in possession of his destiny and wealth”.
Another youth from Elebele community, who pleaded anonymity, told this correspondent that the boy’s strange behaviour since he returned include distancing himself from childhood friends and cooking for the mother which the deceased refused to eat.
The killer son was, however, handed to policemen from the Kolo Division of the Bayelsa State Police Command.
The Spokesman of the State Police Command, Musa Mohammed, however confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State criminal investigation department (SCID) for detailed investigation.
