A notorious armed robber with the name Diamond, also known as Fowlboy has been gunned down by the police on June 26, 2021 in Amukpe area of Sapele, Delta state.
According to a statement by the Delta State police public relations officer, DSP Edafe Bright, a particular gang of armed robbers has been terrorising the residents of Sapele and the police have been on their trail to arrest them.
DSP Edafe Bright said that the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Harrison Nwabuisi, on June 26, 2021 received a distress call from a local informing him about a 3 man gang armed robbers that were in the house of one man (name withheld) in Amukpe, Sapele.
On receiving the call the DPO immediately detailed patrol teams to the scene in conjunction with the community vigilantes.
When the combined team arrived the operation scene, the armed robbers opened fire on the team, the team also retaliated.
After a heavy gun duel, one of the armed robbers identified as Diamond aka Fowlboy who was said to be a notorious armed robber that has been terrorising Sapele and has been on police trail was gunned down by the police.
The statement said other two robbers managed to escape with bullet injuries.
The injured suspect was rushed to the hospital and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
The exhibits recovered from him are; one cut to size locally made gun, a military camouflage sweater and seven phones of different brands.
The police assured that serious effort is on with a view to arresting other fleeing suspects.
