A passenger aboard AirPeace Flight P47862, scheduled to depart Abuja for Asaba on June 6, has shared a harrowing account of what he described as a “real disaster,” following a series of prolonged delays and a ground incident that ultimately left over 200 passengers stranded.
Dr. Michael Nwoko, who was on the flight alongside Senator Patrick C. Ndubueze and other travelers, recounted the frustrating experience.
According to him, the flight, initially scheduled for 12:30 p.m., was delayed multiple times, first to 5:00 p.m., then to 9:00 p.m., without adequate explanation from airline staff.
“After hours of waiting and rescheduling, we finally boarded the aircraft around 9:00 p.m.,” Dr. Nwoko said.
“However, while on the tarmac, the canopy of the boarding stairs struck the aircraft door and damaged it. We were then told to disembark without any recourse or proper communication.”
The incident has raised concerns about AirPeace’s operational efficiency and passenger care. Many travelers on board, including prominent figures, were left disappointed by the airline’s handling of the situation.
There has been no official statement from AirPeace as of the time of this report regarding the cause of the delay, the ground incident, or any plans to compensate affected passengers.
The incident highlights ongoing frustrations with domestic air travel in Nigeria, where delays, inadequate communication, and service lapses continue to challenge passenger confidence.
Passengers are calling on AirPeace and aviation authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the flight and ensure better accountability and service delivery in the future.
