The interim administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Major General Barry Ndiomu (rtd.) has reportedly taken offensive against leaders of the Phase 2 Amnesty Programme amidst criticism and calls for his sack on allegations of high handedness, abuse of office, and dereliction of duties.
This was stated by ‘General’ Eshanakpe Israel, a.k.a Akpodoro who is also the Mayor of Urhoboland at an event held in Abuja, Wednesday, noting that “it is true that when corruption is attacked, it fights back” describing the Amnesty boss as a rudderless dictator to whom criticism is alien.
He wondered why supposed beneficiaries of a programme were being hounded for making their opinion known to the Nigerian public.
“What is expected of Ndiomu, according to the ex-militant leader, is for the Amnesty boss to come out clean on the petitions to the presidency against him and not to set loose his ‘attack dogs’ after those he described as distinguished men who made the establishment of the programme possible.
The Mayor noted that under democratic setting, citizens have the right to their opinions and should be free to exercise that right without let or hindrance since the nation is not under a military dictatorship.
According to the Mayor, the office of the interim administrator has arrested: John Isuku and Julius Belemu while Solomon Adu, Paul Johnson, and Akpos Passman were declared wanted by Mr. Ndiomu for daring to petition him to the National Assembly.
He wonders why a supposed manager of a programme will find it right to hound the beneficiaries of the programme into custody in such a “reckless manner” without recourse to the rule of law.
He added that only a morally deficient administrator could be such lawless and dictatorial noting that his actions confirm the call for his sack.
The Mayor called on the National Securirty Adviser to the President, NSA Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to call the Amnesty boss to order and consider showing him the way out of that office.
He described the duo of Isuku and Belemu who are currently in Ndiomu’s custody as complete gentlemen, distinguished with proven sterling characters who are not given to pettiness but will always stand for the truth.
He called on the leadership of the National Assembly to invite the Interim Administrator for questioning.
“How we got to the point of retaining a man kike this in a sensitive office such as the Amnesty office is a puzzle yet to be unravelled.
“These men raise genuine concern about his poor transparency and accountability being a manager and today, his appointing authority watch him hound his petitioners behind bars in a flagrant disregard to the rule of law and gross abuse of his office, the recklessness is better imagined. We call on the presidency to act now,” Mayor Akpodoro stated.
