As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Anioma Youth Council Worldwide has declared its support for Senator Ned Nwoko of the All Progressives Congress (APC), endorsing his bid for a second term to represent Delta North Senatorial District.
The Council, led by Comrade Marcus Enudi, also reaffirmed its backing for the proposed creation of Anioma State, a cause actively championed by Senator Nwoko.
In a communique issued after a crucial executive meeting held at De’ Kings Hotel, Obinomba, Ukwuani LGA, Delta State, the Youth Council expressed confidence in Senator Nwoko’s leadership and aligned itself with the endorsement of his candidacy by Delta North electorates on June 14, 2025.
The Council urged Senator Nwoko to prioritize the timely completion of key infrastructure projects in the Anioma region, including the IPP Stepdown projects in Okpai, the Ogwashi-Uku Dam, coastal road construction, rural electrification, and overall infrastructural development of Anioma homelands.
Emphasizing the need for responsive and inclusive governance, the Council criticized what it described as “insensitivity in leadership and lackluster performance.” It called for greater youth involvement in political processes, urging that Anioma youths be included in leadership structures and decision-making platforms.
“The Anioma people deserve quality democratic representation—one that delivers tangible dividends and uplifts the standard of living,” the communique stated. “Political godfatherism must give way to merit and people-oriented leadership.”
The Council also called for increased political participation of Anioma women, with a focus on gender sensitivity and girl-child education. It condemned corruption, mismanagement, and abuse of public office, while advocating for transparency, accountability, and responsible governance.
Stressing the importance of informed political choices, the Council pledged to scrutinize all candidates seeking elective positions in Anioma, ensuring support only for those with clear and genuine commitment to the region’s development.
Going forward, the Anioma Youth Council vowed to engage with key stakeholders—including governors, executive cabinet members, legislators, and other political representatives—to advance the interests of Anioma people at all levels of governance.
