We are told not to judge anybody as judgment belongs to God who knows the heart of all men. This is very correct. What I want to say here is an advice and not judgment because no name of any man of God is mentioned.
Yes, most so called men of God have derailed from the call of God for their lives. Many were actually called by God but along the line, they miss the target and move out of God’s plan for their lives. They were not careful enough. And very unknowingly to them, they drift out but they think they are still in God’s plan for them.
Some were not called at all. But because they have no job in the circular world, they establish churches without hearing from God. Their sole objective is to make money to run their homes and become better off among their peers. This set of pastors can do anything to grow their churches to any length provided they make money
Now, let’s examine some specific things that will destroy or have destroyed some churches and pastors. Although the churches may still be existing, they have lost their foundation and the presence of God is no longer there.
1. Money: Many pastors or men of God are after money. They just want to make money by all means. They can do anything to get money whether right or wrong. They can collect offerings as many times as possible with as many names attached as they can. The aim of these pastors is essentially to make money and join the league of rich pastors. They do not bother whether their members are happy or suffering, it has nothing to do with them.
2. Women: Women have destroyed many churches and pastors in Nigeria. Many pastors are so lose with women. Some use young ladies as their secretaries, thus expose themselves to temptations on a daily basis. There are young men in their churches but they prefer going for young ladies as their secretaries. They travel with them everywhere they go. These are self deceived pastors. Others mess up with young ladies and wives of members of their churches. Some sleep with the ladies in the name of deliverance or those searching for babies. These are dead pastors. They use so much sugar coated tongues to lure them and the ladies fall for them.
3. Fame: Some pastors are looking for fame. They want to be famous. They see their peers making wave, especially in the media. They resort to whatever they can to join the league of famous pastors. They refuse to pay the spiritual prize of prayer, sacrifice and holy living. They ask their colleagues how they made it and they are advised wrongly. They consult occult world, spiritualists to get to the top. They want their names known across the globe.
4. Competition: Competition is a big challenge in church ministry. When they see their fellow pastors churches growing, they get envious. They look for every means to be like them. They forget that God has a blue print, a principle which must be followed. But they want to cut corners to greatness and growth of their churches. They want to buy cars and build large auditoria like others. Some want to buy cars like their fellows. They are never satisfied with what they have.
