The Urhobo Progress Union Worldwide (UPU) has celebrated Ede Dafinone on the occasion of his birthday, commending his performance as the senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District.
In a press statement issued on April 10, 2026, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kehinde Prince Taiga, the union described Dafinone as a distinguished son of Urhobo land whose public service has been marked by integrity, humility, and a strong commitment to development.
The statement, released under the leadership of UPU President-General, Ese Gam Owe, noted that since his election into the Senate in 2023, Dafinone has demonstrated effective representation through legislative initiatives and constituency projects aimed at improving the welfare of his constituents.
UPU highlighted the senator’s role in sponsoring key bills focused on education and regional development.
These include proposals for the establishment of the Federal University of Agricultural Technology in Orerokpe, the Federal University of Education in Isiokolo, and the Federal University of Health Education in Ughelli.
The union also praised his efforts in facilitating infrastructure and social development projects across Delta Central.
According to the statement, these include school renovations, provision of classroom furniture, installation of electricity transformers, solar streetlights, boreholes, and the construction and rehabilitation of roads and drainage systems.
It added that Dafinone has also implemented healthcare initiatives and empowerment programmes targeting youths and women.
Particular emphasis was placed on his contributions to the education sector, including the facilitation of a 50-bed hostel project at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun.
The UPU described this as part of his broader commitment to human capital development in the region.
Beyond constituency projects, the union acknowledged Dafinone’s advocacy on key national and regional issues.
It cited his interventions on the Okuama crisis, his motion addressing the poor condition of the Effurun–Sapele–Benin Road, and his calls for the extension of the Itakpe–Ujevwu railway line.
The statement also referenced his positions on increased derivation for oil-producing states, local government autonomy, and improved security in Delta Central.
The UPU concluded that the senator’s performance has justified the mandate given to him by his constituents and has enhanced the standing of the Urhobo people in national discourse. It offered prayers for his continued health, wisdom, and service to Delta State and Nigeria.
