Reports reaching our news room are indicating that some unidentified gunmen broke into a church and killed a middle-aged man, his wife and daughter. According to the report, the incident happened in a community called Azia in Ihiala local government area of Anambra state on Thursday. The man’s name was given as Ken Ekwesianya.
Sources who are familiar with the area said the family was murdered inside a church premises around 7p on that fateful day. The sources did not give the name of the church for reasons best known to them. Details of the death were sketchy as at the time of filing this report. However, the Anambra state police public relations officer, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident. He told our reporter that the incident was undergoing investigation.
“Yes, investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and effort is being intensified in order to arrest perpetrators of the dastardly act and bring them to justice,” he said.
