The South South forum of Association of Senior Civil Servant has declared Mr Bola Audu, the expelled former national chairman of the association, persona non grata.
The association’s decision was a reaction to Audu’s alleged vandalization and attack of the association’s National secretariat. The attack was said to be his second evasion in two months.
According to the statement issued by the association; On 16 March, 2021, the National Executive Council of the union, suspended Bola Audu as the union’s president after he was arraigned before a High Court by the National Agency for Prohibition in Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for alleged involvement in human trafficking and exploitation of vulnerables.
As stated by the organisation, Audu’s scandal tarnished the organisation’s image. It was also noted that his short reign as the union’s president was characterized with lavish spending of the association funds, embezzlement and widespread of corruption which culminated to his expulsion from the ASCSN.
Dr. Tommy Okon was elected by the association to replace Audu as the National president of the ASCSN.
Bola Audu however took the case to the National Industrial Court (NIC) in Abuja, where he hoped that the court will compel appropriate organ of the organisation to revoke his expulsion and reinstate him as the National president of the association.
Speaking in a press conference in Asaba, Bolum Nwachukwu, the Chairman of the South South forum of ASCSN, said that members of the union have agreed to declare Bola Audu and his cohorts persona non grata for Irrational behaviours after Justice D.E Osiagor of Lagos High Court had ordered Bola Audu and his collaborators to immediately vacate the National secretariat of ASCSN in Lagos or face the wrath of law.
However, in the judgment released on Wednesday, 26 October, 2022, Justice Osiagor vacated and discharged Audu’s case which allowed him entry to the secretariat.
Osiagor stated that the case is an intra-union dispute and because the applicant himself has taken the case to the NIC in Abuja, he lacks the jurisdiction to enter trial, hence, he dismissed the case on the basis of lack of jurisdiction.
