Barrister Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, former Deputy Governor of Delta State, has publicly rejected the recent mass defection of Ifeanyi Okowa, Sheriff Oborevwori, and several other PDP stalwarts to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a strong statement issued on Sunday and posted on his Facebook page, Otuaro made it clear that he will not abandon his allegiance to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), despite pressures and speculation that he might follow Okowa into the ruling party.
Otuaro described rumors of his defection as “false, baseless, and misleading,” emphasising that his loyalty to the PDP’s ideals remains “strong and unshaken.” He urged supporters, party members, and the public to ignore reports hinting that he has joined or will join the APC.
The statement underscores a growing split among former PDP leaders in Delta State: while Governor Oborevwori and his predecessor Okowa have officially joined APC in recent weeks in what observers call a major political realignment, Otuaro is positioning himself as part of the faction determined to stay loyal to the PDP.
This refusal to defect along with Okowa signals potential fractures ahead of the 2027 election, especially in Delta State where party allegiance and loyalty remain hotly contested.
