Dr. Michael Nwoko, erstwhile aide to former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has congratulated the new executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Delta state council.
In a congratulatory message made available on Saturday, Dr. Michael Nwoko expressed confidence in the new executive under the chairmanship of Comrade Churchill Oyowe, a senior staff of the state ministry of information.
He believes that the emergence of the Oyowe led executive, comprising Felix Ekwu, vice chairman; Victor Sorokwu, secretary; Josephine Omordio, assistant secretary and others will impact positively on the image of the union.
Dr. Michael Nwoko who is popularly called The Political Oshobe by his admirers, said the crop of media professionals that made up the state executive is a testament to the fact that the team will meet the yearning of members of the union.
However, Dr. Nwoko advised the executive members to carry every member of the union along, giving attention to all members to give all a sense of belonging and membership.
Dr. Michael Nwoko also advised the Oyowe led executive to accept certain criticism that may lead to raising the bar of the union and bringing the leaders to remember certain critical issues they may not have considered as germane to the good and unity of members.
He called on the executive members to avoid issues that may lead to fragmentation of the union, noting that the executives should avoid being seen as having monopoly of knowledge in the administration of the union.
He added that with the influx of congratulatory messages from personalities outside the union and the massive support it has garnered from members, the executive is sure on the part of success.
He once again congratulated the Oyowe-led executives and wish them well while praying for unity of members in the actualisation of the laudable programs of the new leaders.
