1. Unity of Nigeria
2. Good welfare package for workers
3. Consumer protection
Nigeria’s senator – elect, Prince Ned Nwoko, will be among the 109 senators to be inaugurated on June 13, 2023. He will be representing Delta North senatorial district in the red chamber. Prior to this election to the senate, he was a member of the House of Representatives representing Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency between 1999 and 2003. While he was in the House of Reps, he made great contributions to the Nigerian state.
Between when he left the House of Reps in 2003 till when he became senator – elect to represent Delta North, Ned Nwoko had made very significant impact in Nigeria. Youths, students, and a lot of Nigerians have benefited immensely from his humanitarian gesture through his Ned Nwoko foundation.
For Nigeria as a country, Ned Nwoko made a breakthrough for the entire country where the 774 local government areas, the 36 states and the federal government benefited from his fight for the Paris Club refund that amounted to multiple billions for Nigeria.
He has been in the fight for malaria eradication and fumigation of the entire country. He has, in his kitty, professors who are researching into the best ways to actualise this laudable objective for the Nigeria state. These he did outside being in government. This implies that Senator-elect Ned Nwoko has a good mind for the good of Nigeria.
Now that he has been elected senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, he has gotten a bigger avenue to meet the needs not only of his Delta North constituents but the entire people of Nigeria.
While waiting for the swearing in as senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, Ned Nwoko had made great comments that indicate that the senator will be a figure to reckon with in the national assembly and a man who will initiate bills for the overall good of all Nigerians.
In the tussle for the senate presidency, Ned Nwoko had hinted on justice and fairness to all Nigerians. In a report that recently emerged, Ned Nwoko has preference for the south east to produce the senate presidency. His argument was for the unity and cohesion of Nigeria.
His view may not be far from the perceived marginalisation of the south eastern states. Over the years, there has been clamour for secession due the marginalisation the zone has suffered in Nigeria. The zone has been denied presidency as well. This time, since the president and vice are from the South west and North east, for Senator Ned Nwoko it will be fair, equitable and just for the senate presidency to be zoned to the east.
His view was corroborated by many even from the South west and Northern states of the country. Giving senate presidency to the south east will help douse tension and uprising in the zone and the continuous cry for secession from the Nigeria state. It is believed that Nigeria has not been fair to the zone, hence the continuous insecurity and clamour for referendum.
Another special statement from the Anioma prince was made on workers day. In the statement, Ned Nwoko vowed to, among other matter, push for good minimum wage and consumer protection laws for the well being of Nigerians. In his solidarity message to workers on May 1, the senator pointed out high banking interest rates as one of the factors bedeviling economic growth in Nigeria. He stressed that the banks are making huge profits to the detriment of their customers.
According to him, high banking interest rate has significantly reduced the masses access to financing, a development which has made it difficult for entrepreneurs to secure loans to start up or expand their already existing businesses.
He voiced his readiness to push for consumer protection laws that will protect consumers from unscrupulous business practices and also a good minimum wage to ensure that workers are fairly compensated in Nigeria.
The above are evidences that Senator Ned Nwoko will hit the ground <span;>running as soon as he is inaugurated on June 13, 2023. There’s much up in the sleeves of Ned Nwoko. He has one of the finest brains among the 109 senators- elect in Nigeria. During his campaign prior to the elections, Ned Nwoko made series of promises which definitely he will work towards fulfilling as soon as he resumes as Senator for Delta North.
There is so much to expect from him. His mind is loaded with programmes for the good of all Nigerians. One thing worth mentioning is that Ned Nwoko is not among those who are in the senate to amass wealth for themselves. Nwoko is already made. His interest in the senate is to have a higher, bigger and better platform to meet needs of Delta North people and Nigerians at large.
While we wait for his inauguration on June 13, we are very optimistic that senator Ned Nwoko is the best man for the job. And with all certainty, he will be an asset to the national assembly.
