The Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) has officially notified key security agencies of its ongoing efforts to enhance safety and security in Edo State.
In a formal letter signed by Stanley Oghenevwede Paul, the Edo state commandant, the CJTF reached out to several prominent institutions, including the Department of State Services (DSS), Civil Defense, the Nigerian Army, the Air Force, the Nigeria Police Force, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the Palace of the Oba of Benin.
Edo State has faced increasing security challenges in recent months, with rising cases of armed robbery and kidnapping.
As part of efforts to combat these issues, the CJTF is aiming to bolster security through community engagement and support for police and military operations.
The notification highlights the CJTF’s commitment to collaborating with security agencies to improve the safety of residents.
The group’s extensive local knowledge has proven vital in supporting military operations and providing security in areas most affected by insurgency and criminal activities.
This move is seen as a positive step toward reinforcing partnerships between the CJTF and national security forces.
As an organization that operates within local communities, the CJTF plays a critical role in gathering intelligence, providing boots-on-the-ground support, and acting as a liaison between the authorities and the public.
Local stakeholders, including security agencies, are expected to assess the notification and work alongside the CJTF to formulate effective strategies for tackling security challenges in the state.
