The Odion- Ewere of Ekiuwa Community in Benin City, Edo State, Elder Benson Omobude has lauded Gift a Child Initiative, a non-governmental organization (NGO) for putting smile on the faces of children in the community at the 2020 Children’s day celebrations.
Elder Benson Omobude who made the commendation while receiving the palliatives presented to the children by Gift a Child said,”I am very happy and pleased to see a young girl thoughtful and considerable enough to remember children of Ekiuwa community by donating food items selflessly to alleviate their sufferings at this period of Covid 19.” “No matter how small it may be, it goes to show that Gift a Child is truly a body or organisation that has the children at heart and I pray God will increase and reward you and bless your dedicated team abundantly so that you can do more to humanity”.
The Odion-Ewere who said Ekiuwa community were peaceful and law abiding citizens of Edo State averred that ” the visit of Gift a Child has set a record that will spur others and that would always be remembered “.
He revealed that Ekiuwa road has been abandoned and therefore used the occasion to call on the state government and other spirited non governmental organizations to come to their aid to rescue them from the untold hardship being experience due to its deplorable conditions.
In her speech delivered extempore, the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gift a Child initiative, miss Ajayi Eseni Deborah said going to Ekiuwa community to present gifts was led by God.
” This is my first outing and project and I considered it fulfilled to obey God’s voice to donate these items/palliatives to Ekiuwa children as my little quota to complement whatever that may have been done by other persons or organizations especially at this period of Corona Virus where everything has come to standstill with its attendant pandemic”.
The 22 years old Economics and Statistics Uniben graduate avowed to do more for children as part of her NGO vision and mission therefore coveted earnestly for support and donations.
Items donated as part of the children’s day celebrations includes. 100 face masks, cartons of noodles, packets of Bobo, cartons of biscuit and parks of Cheese balls.
