The presidential taskforce on COVID-19 has said that there are nine local governments in Nigeria that have over 51 percent of the total number of infected persons in Nigeria.
The presidential taskforce made the analysis know during the daily press briefing of the PTF on Friday in Abuja. The presidential taskforce on COVID-19 gives update of the success or otherwise of the fight against the coronavirus on daily basis.
Although the name of the local government areas nor the states they are were not made known by the PTF, the taskforce said the nine local government areas are densely populated among the 36 states and federal capital territory (FCT) Abuja.
The revelation was twitted by secretary to government of the federation, Boss Mustapha, as the media briefing was going on in Abuja, the nation’s capital. Boss Mustapha is the chairman of the presidential taskforce on COVID-19 in Nigeria.
Emerald News can report that despite the PTF chairman did not disclose the name of the local government nor the states, all Nigerians are aware that Lagos and Kano are the most densely populated states in Nigeria.
Besides these two states being the most populated, the figures so far released by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), these two states have the highest number of cases in the country.
Following this background, one can easily establish that the nine local government are either from these two states or majority of them are from the states of Lagos and Kano.
