Not less than 5,590 inmates have been released from the Nigerian Correctional Centres across the country.
Bashir Ahmad, President Muhammadu Buhari’s personal assistant on new media, twitted on Wednesday morning.
His tweet reads: “So far 6,590 inmates that satisfied the laid down conditions were released as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to decongest the Nigerian Correctional Centres, AGF @MalamiSan discloses.”
The release was part of moves to decongest the prisons to avoid the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
