Senator Ede Dafinone of Delta Central Senatorial District has congratulated Tunji Disu on his appointment as Acting Inspector-General of Police by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the elevation as well-deserved and timely.
In a statement issued on February 26, 2026, Senator Dafinone commended Disu’s professionalism, dedication, and steadfast commitment to service within the Nigeria Police Force, noting that his rise through the ranks reflects discipline, courage, and exemplary leadership.
According to the lawmaker, Disu’s track record of competence and integrity, coupled with his understanding of contemporary policing challenges, has earned him the confidence of the nation at a critical time in Nigeria’s security landscape.
While extending his warm felicitations, Dafinone urged the new Acting Inspector-General to take decisive action in addressing the country’s pressing insecurity concerns.
He specifically called for strengthened efforts to combat kidnapping for ransom, banditry, and the persistent clashes between farmers and herders, which he said continue to endanger lives, undermine livelihoods, and threaten national stability.
“As you assume this important office, I urge you to deploy your vast experience and expertise toward confronting these challenges head-on,” Dafinone stated, emphasizing the urgent need to restore public confidence in policing and enhance safety across the country.
The senator also assured Disu of his support as he works to advance peace and security nationwide, expressing optimism that the new police chief would bring renewed vigor to the fight against crime and insecurity.
