Dr. Michael Nwoko, chief of staff to Senator Ned Nwoko, on Wednesday, congratulated the people of Delta State as the state clocked 34 years since its creation, describing it as a land of resilience, unity, and boundless potential.
In his anniversary message, Dr. Nwoko said Delta State, established on August 27, 1991, has stood out as a beacon of progress, cultural richness, and indomitable spirit in Nigeria.
He praised the vision of the state’s founding fathers and the contributions of successive administrations for laying foundations that continue to foster development across all sectors.
“From the lush landscapes of the Niger Delta to the bustling cities and serene communities, Delta State embodies diversity, strength, and a shared vision for a brighter future,” he said. “The hard work, creativity, and unity of our people have shaped Delta into a state of pride and promise.”
Reflecting on the journey so far, Dr. Nwoko highlighted significant achievements in education, infrastructure, agriculture, health, and human capital development, noting that these milestones were made possible through the resilience and determination of the people.
He stressed that the 34th anniversary is both a moment of celebration and an opportunity for collective renewal. “This anniversary reminds us not only of how far we have come but also of the greater heights we must reach together.
“We must recommit ourselves to the values of unity, progress, and excellence, which are essential for building a stronger Delta,” Dr. Nwoko stated.
According to him, the future of the state lies in empowering young people, sustaining economic growth, and preserving the cultural heritage that defines Delta’s identity.
He urged citizens to embrace innovation, strengthen peace, and work together towards ensuring that the state continues to serve as a model of development in Nigeria.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we must remain focused on building a Delta State where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive,” he said. “The vision is a Delta that soars higher — united in purpose, rich in diversity, and driven by excellence.”
The 34th anniversary of Delta State, which comes at a period of national economic challenges and calls for renewed focus on sustainable development in the Niger Delta, was marked by messages of hope and optimism from leaders and communities across the state.
“Happy 34th Anniversary, Delta State! May we soar higher, together, in peace and prosperity,” Dr. Nwoko said.
