Delta APC Leaders From 17 LGAs Demand Zoning State Chairman To Delta North

The strength of any political party lies not only in its electoral victories but in the fairness, balance, and inclusiveness that shape its internal leadership structure.

These principles have historically helped sustain unity, inspire loyalty, and foster collective ownership among party faithful across the state.

Within the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, leadership distribution over the years reflects a pattern that now calls for thoughtful reassessment.

The State Party Chairmanship was held for about eight years by leadership from Delta South Senatorial District, notably during the tenure of Jones Erue, before transitioning to Omeni Sobotie, who continues to occupy the position.

This continuity has provided stability, but equity within a diverse political family requires periodic rotation to maintain confidence and a sense of belonging among all blocs.

At the same time, the governorship of the state is currently in Delta Central Senatorial District. In established political practice, balancing key positions across zones helps prevent marginalisation perceptions and strengthens party cohesion.

Against this backdrop, zoning the State Party Chairmanship to Delta North Senatorial District emerges as a logical, fair, and unifying step.

Delta North has demonstrated sustained commitment to party growth through mobilisation, advocacy, and electoral participation.

Recognising this contribution through leadership inclusion would not only reward loyalty but also invigorate grassroots enthusiasm, expand political reach, and reinforce internal stability ahead of future political contests.

This position is not advanced in a spirit of division or entitlement. Rather, it reflects a pragmatic appreciation of political balance, the kind that keeps a party cohesive, competitive, and forward-looking.

Fair zoning fosters trust; trust, in turn, strengthens organisational discipline and electoral performance.

For these reasons, party leaders, stakeholders, and faithful across the state are urged to support the zoning of the State Party Chairmanship to Delta North in the interest of equity, unity, and the long-term strength of our party.
