The Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has called for the full inclusion of his hundreds of thousands of supporters in the governance and decision-making structure of Delta State, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) positions itself for future electoral success.
Speaking at the Delta State APC stakeholders’ meeting held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Asaba, on Thursday, Omo-Agege emphasized that unity, inclusivity, and grassroots participation remain critical to the party’s growth and sustainability.
The meeting, convened by Governor Sheriff Oborovwori, brought together party leaders, stakeholders, and loyal members to review the party’s direction and strengthen internal cohesion ahead of future political engagements.
In his remarks, Omo-Agege expressed appreciation to the Governor for personally inviting him to the strategic meeting, describing it as timely and crucial to the progress of the party.
“I appreciate this opportunity to be here today with our leaders and friends at this pivotal moment, as we chart a new course for our great party,” he said.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, noting that the party has grown into a formidable political platform in Delta State through the dedication and sacrifices of its members.
As the immediate past governorship candidate of the party, Omo-Agege highlighted the significance of his strong grassroots support base, recalling that over 240,000 Deltans voted for him in the 2023 general elections.
According to him, these supporters represent the backbone of the party and must be adequately recognized and integrated into governance.
“I have no doubt that the party leadership will ensure the inclusivity of my hundreds of thousands of faithful grassroots supporters who remain ready to mobilise for APC,” he stated.
He stressed that incorporating these loyal followers into the party’s administrative and political structures would enhance unity, boost morale, and strengthen the party’s electoral prospects at both state and federal levels.
Omo-Agege described inclusivity as both a moral responsibility and a strategic necessity, adding that sustainable political success depends on broad-based participation and shared ownership.
He also pledged his readiness to work closely with Governor Oborovwori and other party leaders to promote good governance and deliver tangible benefits to the people of Delta State.
“My philosophy in public governance is simple: service to the people comes first,” he said, while reaffirming his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The former Senate leader emphasized the need for collaboration, internal harmony, and collective responsibility in building a strong and united APC in the state.
He urged party members to set aside personal interests and focus on strengthening party structures, expanding grassroots engagement, and promoting policies that improve the lives of citizens.
In his closing remarks, Omo-Agege called on party stakeholders to remain committed to the ideals of unity, accountability, and service, noting that only through inclusive leadership could the APC achieve lasting political relevance in Delta State.
The stakeholders’ meeting is seen as part of ongoing efforts by the APC leadership to reposition the party ahead of future elections and consolidate its presence across the state.
