Delta Central lawmaker, Senator Ede Dafinone, has condoled with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, following the passing of his mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda.
In a condolence message issued on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Senator Dafinone, speaking on behalf of his constituents, described the late Mama Lydia as a devout Christian, a virtuous woman, and a pillar of service in both the church and the community.
“Mama Lydia Yilwatda lived a fulfilled life in the service of God and humanity. Alongside her late husband, Reverend Toma Goshewe Yilwatda, she worked tirelessly in the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), devoting her time, energy, and gifts to the propagation of the gospel,” the statement read in part.
The senator noted that Mama Lydia’s life of humility, faith, and commitment to Christian values would remain a source of inspiration for generations. He urged the APC Chairman and his family to take solace in the enduring legacy she left behind.
“On behalf of my family and constituents, I pray that the Almighty God grants Professor Yilwatda and the entire Yilwatda family the fortitude to bear this great loss. May Mama Lydia’s soul rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord,” Senator Dafinone added.
Mama Lydia Yilwatda, until her passing, was widely respected for her dedication to the work of the church and her community.
