Frontline Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant in Delta state, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government has done more harm than good to Nigerians.
The largest private industrialist in the state and criminologist stated this during a consultative visit to PDP Elders and Leaders Forum in Udu local government area of the state.
Gbagi, who served as minister of state for education under former President Goodluck Jonathan, said the administration of Jonathan gave Nigerians better living standard compared to the current government.
His words: “When I left government, the rate of dollar was N144 to a dollar. By the time Jonathan was leaving as president, it was N159 to a dollar. Today, dollar is about N558.
“Now, sachet water was less than N10. 00 pure water is N20. 00. In fact, they manufactured pure water for poor people to be able to drink water. Bag of rice today is between N35, 000 to N38, 000. When I left government, bag of rice was less than N10, 000.
“Today, our mothers, brothers and sisters can no longer go to farm that God gave to them as of right.
“Even the cattle ranch was a strategy to enter this area and before you know what is going on, they have taken over the local governments, communities and you have nowhere to go.
“APC has destroyed Nigeria completely. I hear some APC members are coming to deceive you people. They are bringing bags of rice and transformers. All of that is your father and great grandfather’s monies that they laboured. They did not give you rice before they had access to taxpayers’ money.
“Ninety-two percent of the people bringing rice to you today have not given you rice before but because he has access to taxpayers monies. I am going to bring rice but it is not taxpayers’ money, it is my money. They are giving you bags of rice to buy your soul, father, mother’s graves and I am saying let us not go there,” he said.
The governorship aspirant charged Deltans to wise up so no one could deceive them, stressing that the teeming youths have no job, hence they were roaming the street.
“I am saying that this time, Urhobo should wise up, lamenting that Urhobo which used to be number three or four in Nigeria, today, we are neither number six or number 10, not even in the state called Delta,” he asserted.
