In its determination to create a comfortable and safe environment for citizens, the Delta State Ministry of Environment has evacuated the illgal dumpsite around Minola street, Cable Point, Chigoziem Street off DLA road through to former Civil Service Commission office, opposite St. Brigids Grammar School, in Asaba, the state capital.
These areas were hitherto littered with filth for a long time prior to the intervention of the State Ministry of Environment. They were littered with dirts generated by residents who dumped refused in these places mainly at night.
As part of strategies to change people’s mindset, the State Ministry of Environment has carried out so much sensitization on the need for a cleaner and healthier environment. It has also campaigned for people to take ownership of the environment.
However, there has been this unwholesome attitude of people and some organizations who dispose refuse indiscriminately along streets and highways without considering the health implications of their actions.
In order to check this ugly trend and ensure that the aesthetics and cleanliness of our environment is sustained, persons, organizations, owners of business premises are advised to purchase their waste bags and use bins within their premises for proper disposal by private sector participants.
