The campaign train of the Social Democratic Party on Monday berthed at the Omiere Primary School, Orhuworun in Udu local government area of Delta state.
Notably present were the president general of Orhuworun community, Chief Joseph Tefue, SDP LGA chairman of Udu, Pastor Victor Agbula, and House of Assembly candidate of the party for Udu state constituency, Hon Edirin Livingstone, Prophet Oke Iyidi of St Lazarus Christ church and Prophet Michael.
All the 10 wards in Udu local government area were represented at the gathering.
The Udje Udu dance troop thrilled the visitors with energetic and vigorous dance routines.
In his welcome speech, the Udu LGA chairman, Pastor Victor Agbula, described Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi as a well read, educated, and cultured philanthropist and that there is no hiding place for the golden fish.
The state coordinator of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) set the crowd wild with his dance moves and hailed Gbagi as a tornado that has come to move everything and everyone in his path to somewhere better than “where we are currently in Delta state.”
Addressing the crowd, Gbagi praised the people of Orhuworun community for the warm reception and the patience they exhibited. He questioned the crowd on their attitude towards government and the state which the community is in at present.
He bemoaned the poor state of the community and asked whether the people were comfortable remaining as they are at the moment. He said for the past eight years of Okowa’s government, there has been no industry in the state.
“We should have cassava processing industries that can export to other countries and even cucumber that can be repackaged in portions to sell and get revenue for our people.
He pleaded with Udu people not to be deceived again as it has been over the years. “I want to beg Udu people, don’t be deceived. If a man who is 50 years old wants to rule you, ask him what he has achieved for himself and check what he has done for the people. If they do not have any stake in the state, don’t vote for them.”
Speaking to youths, Gbagi said: “Don’t let anyone deceive you, get your PVC and cast your vote and vote for development. If anyone tries to bribe you, stand your ground. Delta state can’t recover from debts if there is no industrialization.
“I have previously said that if I am governor, all youths of education age will go to school free of charge to university level. I will partner with you the Udu people and make sure that the community gets better.
He reiterated that “if we can make Delta state a center of industrialization, expatriates who have left Delta because of lack of trust will come back.”
For Udu local government to have a voice in the state house of assembly, Gbagi endorsed Livingstone as the qualified candidate who can ably represent the Udu people and speak for them.
