Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Delta state, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi is set to make Delta one of the most industrialized states in Nigeria. In Nigeria today, the most industrialised state is Lagos. Lagos did not get industrialised on its own, it was the determination of individuals who had vision and dreams, not selfish or self-centred persons.
Lagos today is home to industries, factories, banks and all multi-national firms and even telecom companies are headquartered in Lagos. The reason is simple. The environment was made livable and habitable by people who had governed the state over the years. They were men who had visions and dreams. They were driven by unquenchable passion for development. They were men who were ready to put their vision to use and drive home a desire to achieve goals for their people.
Almost every part of Lagos is developed and people from all over the country troop to the state to find jobs and earn livelihood. And because of that the state is densely populated. With the population, businesses thrive and people in Lagos make money. All kinds of jobs one could seek for in Nigeria are in Lagos. Yes, it took leaders with large hearts to build the state and today it is seen as one of the largest megacities in Nigeria. Any other city or state in the country could be like Lagos or possibly better than it. It only calls for leaders with the political will who are not self-centred to build.
The bottom line of this article is that there is nothing anyone would set their minds to do that cannot be achieved. The problem many leaders across board have is the political will to dream and the readiness to drive a lasting vision for the suffering masses and proffer permanent not temporal solutions to their pains. Almost every state only provides temporal solutions to challenges and leave the people in pains after a few months or years. In most states, the masses are left to eat the crumbs or are given leftovers after the politicians have eaten from the heavy plate of food.
Their conducts are antithetical to democratic tenets. The masses are seen struggling with the little crumbs while the politicians who are in the corridors of power bark at them and at times send security agents after them for seeking for what rightly belongs to them through demonstrations and protests. Most times they say there is no money to meet the needs of the average citizens who only demand for a negligible portion of what belongs to them. But the politicians who were voted in by the people and entrusted with state resources will employ the same resources to inflict pain on the harmless and defenseless citizens.
Rather than make provisions for the people and ensure their safety and happiness, the reverse is the case. This has been the fate of the masses over the years. But if Deltans will see the need to pull out of this scenario and vote for Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the fortune of the state which has been in a mess will definitely be turned around. Gbagi’s governorship ambition is not to amass wealth to himself but for the overall good and liberation of the people of Delta state.
Gbagi is running on a vision. He is aiming to drive unqualified development in a pan Delta programme. His agenda has no connection with tribalism and favouritism. Every part of the state, every local government and community will feel the impact of an industrial minded governor. As an entrepreneur and business minded individual, his goal is to make everyone in the state have sustainable means of livelihood and build a future for the unborn Deltans.
Gbagi is madly in love with Delta state. He is very willing to carry out a total transformation of the state and present a score card that will be the envy of all residents. He has promised it, and he is hell bent on running along with that blue-print within the first four years of the administration if he is given the mandate by residents of this great state. These laudable dreams can only come to fruition if the people of Delta stand with him and vote for SDP. It’s time we took our stand and say enough is enough.
Just like the revolution at the national level with the youths of this nation who have decided that come rain or shine we stand with Peter Obi for president, away from the recycled ancient men and senior grandfathers, Delta people should rise and say Olorogun Gbagi is our man. It’s time we abandoned this PDP and APC government and seek an alternative for our lives. We must not trade our future on a morsel of bread. Let’s queue behind Gbagi and SDP for the good of this state.
We must not remain tied to the apron strings of these old parties and say ‘‘party is supreme.” Party cannot be supreme when there is no agenda for a total transformation of the state. Party cannot be supreme when people are dying of hunger. Party cannot be supreme when our graduates have no jobs. Party cannot be supreme when our security is getting more porous every day. Party cannot be supreme when the cost of living is rising daily. Party cannot be supreme when people cannot feed because of the cost of foodstuff.
This is why we must change the narrative. There must be a paradigm shift from what we have been doing in the previous elections. The old order must change if our lives must improve. If we remain with the old order, we will continue to groan under the burden of uncaring and thieving politicians. Let’s look for alternative and the available alternative now is Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, the Urhobo-born business mogul. He has all that Deltans need to make the needed transformation for a glorious and industrialised Delta.
