A senior Ijaw leader and Obaseki of Akugbene-Mien kingdom in Bomadi local government area of Delta state, Chief Yusuf Eregbene, has reacted to the emergence of Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi among the DC-23 three.
According to Vanguard, Chief Eregbene said: “My people (Ijaw) should not waste their time and resources. 2023 election is already concluded, Gbagi for governor is a task for Ijaw nation to produce governor in 2031.”
“This week, I will lead hundreds of Ijaw sons and daughters to declare our total unalloyed support for Urhobo nation and Gbagi for governor.”
The Ijaw lobby group with a former minister of police affairs, Alaowei Bozimo, as leader has remained unyielding to calls to sheath their swords in the build up to the 2023 guber race.
The Ijaws have said they cannot surrender to the Urhobos to produce the governor in 2023 and wait for 2031 to produce the governor.
While the Ijaws are stoutly against the Urhobos with support from some power blocs in Delta North, the Isokos and Itsekiris of Delta South are behind Delta Central for the 2023 governorship.
