Twenty suspects have been arrested for alleged electoral offences following the just-concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) local government elections, according to a statement released by the EFCC.
The arrests were carried out on Saturday, February 21, 2026, by operatives deployed across the territory to monitor compliance with electoral laws.
The anti-corruption agency said the suspects were apprehended for offences including vote buying, vote selling, and obstruction of electoral officers.
According to the statement, the total sum linked to the alleged offences amounts to N17,218,700. Investigators reported that one suspect was found with N13.5 million in a vehicle parked beside a polling unit in Kwali Area Council.
A breakdown of the arrests shows that two suspects were apprehended in Abaji, nine in Gwagwalada, four in Kuje, and another four in Kwali.
The commission stated that investigations are ongoing and that all suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigative process.
The EFCC reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to deter electoral malpractice and enforce compliance with Nigeria’s electoral laws.
