Following reports on a fire explosion that engulfed a good portion of Ogbo Ogwu International Market, Bridge Head, Onitsha, as reported by various news outlets, the fire spread fast and there are various causalities.
According to vanguard, Firefighters are presently at the scene were trying to salvage the situation.
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi expressed his sympathy for the victims.
“I just received the news of the fire inferno at Ogbo Ogwu International Market, Bridge Head, Onitsha, following a suspected chemical explosion in the area. I am saddened by the loss of lives, many injuries and material losses recorded.
The prevalent high temperature in the country, following the present dry season, all contribute to frequent occurrence of fire outbreaks.
I urge everyone to take more precautionary measures in handling possible explosives and highly inflammable objects in these times,and be more safety conscious in our individual environments.
