Community youths descend heavily on vigilante members, kill two (read the crime they committed)

It was a black Sunday in Ovwian, Udu Local Government Area of Delta state as a mother, her daughter and two vigilante men (Bakassi Boys) were killed over a fracas.
It was gathered that the dead girl was returning from a late outing when she was allegedly accosted by the Bakassi Boys on Sunday, November 22, 2020.
It gathered further learnt that the vigilante men insisted that they must follow her to her residence to ascertain if she lived in the area as she had earlier told them.
She was said to have obliged their request and that her mother was not pleased with the request of the Bakassi Boys and was said to have asked her daughter to get into their residence without any delay.
The vigilante men, it was also gathered, were not pleased with the behavior of the mother of the girl and that a quarrel ensued between the mother of the girl and the Bakassi Boys.
The mother of the girl was allegedly hit with the butt of a gun by one of the vigilante men and another allegedly shot at the girl in the process.
Our source claimed that the girl was shot through accidental discharge.
The girl was said to have died on the spot while her mother was rushed to a private clinic for treatment. Unconfirmed report had it that she could not survive it and later gave up the ghost.
Meanwhile, the fiancé of the girl and other aggrieved residents of the area did not take the incident lightly as they were said to have engaged the Bakassi Boys in a bloody combat that led to the death of two of the Bakassi Boys and one seriously injured to the state of death.
In a related development, a suspected street cultist was stabbed to death by members of a rival group at the Iyara area in Warri on Monday November 23, 2020.
Efforts to confirm the incident of the bloody fracas in Ovwian, from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onowakpoyeya, proved abortive at as the time of filling this report.
