Acting president of Committee for the Defense of Human Rights, Prince Kehinde Taiga, has said that the continuous threat of militants in the Niger Delta against President Muhammadu Buhari over the underdevelopment of the region was a misplaced threat.
Prince Taiga said rather than vent their anger on President Buhari, the indigenes of the region and militants should channel their energies to tackle the governors, senators, Reps members and the directors in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) who are mismanaging the funds deployed to NDDC and the constituency project funds for the people.
Taiga reasoned that Buhari has never underdevelop Niger Delta nor South south but it is rather the leaders of the zone that are underdeveloping the region. The managers of NDDC have never complained of Buhari not approving funds for the commission.
He said NDDC is receiving its due funds, noting that if NDDC is receiving its due funds why blaming Buhari for underdevelopment of the Niger Delta region.
He told the agitators to first of all hold the leaders of the region responsible. He mentioned the Senators, the Reps members, the governors, the directors of the NDDC and other stakeholders, the traditional rulers as being the thieves feeding fat on NDDC funds.
He said the president can only be blamed if he had not been releasing the funds for the commission.
Available facts revealed that the NDDC has received not less than $40billion, a total of over N15trillion an amount which could have transformed the region to a near Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
