Joe Biden, the US Vice President, has warned Russian President Vladimir Putin against using chemical weapons in Ukraine.
Biden warned that if Putin deployed a chemical weapon in his war on Ukraine, NATO would “react.” Biden spoke after a NATO conference in Brussels, Belgium.
” If he uses it, we will reply,” he warned. The response would be determined by the nature of the use.”
The US president revealed that NATO is closely following events in Ukraine, warning that if Russia oversteps its bounds, it would be met with retaliation.
Biden declared that NATO has never been more united in its fight against Russia, and announced that his administration had committed $2 billion in weaponry to Ukraine.
He announced a new commitment to “more than $1 billion in humanitarian assistance,” as well as promising to welcome 100,000 of the nearly 3.7 million refugees fleeing the country.
According to CNN, Biden said the West was in it for the long haul, intent on “increasing the pain” on Moscow, while intensifying the effort to exclude Russia from the G20 and replace it with Ukraine.
