The Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Delta state and former minister of state for education, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, has restated that he would ensure that Deltans enjoy free education to the university level.
Speaking at a reception in his honour at the palace of the Okobaro of Ughievwen kingdom, Ughelli south local government area of the state, the philanthropist said his free education programme is apolitical and is aimed at ameliorating the pains of parents in sending their children to school under the harsh economy.
“Poverty has plagued our parents that they cannot send their children to school any more and I stated emphatically that Delta state, starting from May 2023, every Delta child will have free education to university level.
“I will provide free education for all our children to relieve our mothers in Delta state starting from May 2023, every Delta child will have free education. The reason why we have come is that we will give every true Deltan free education. You cannot be in the river and there is soap in your eyes.
He said he and the party have perfected a unique model that would guarantee free education to all true Deltans in schools across the state.
According to him, students in primary and secondary schools across the state would enjoy free education to the university level like their counterparts, while granting dilapidated schools, renovation and retooling windows.
The former minister disclosed that he would revamp the ailing education sector, bridge escalated education deficit, reverse the figures of out-of-school children and uneducated young adults across the state and return the state to its leading position in education in the country.
