Foremost governorship aspirant in Delta state, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, has thumbed up for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over the sprawling state secretariat he built for workers in the state. The secretariat was commissioned on Monday by the Nigerian Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo. The secretariat is one of the biggest and the most beautiful edifice in the capital city.
Available facts indicate that the new Delta state secretariat is one of the best in Nigeria, cutting across the length and breadth of the nation. Gbagi, a visionary guber aspirant, said with the building of the secretariat, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has made a milestone achievement in his eight years administration of the state.
Gbagi, who was highly elated at the sight of the giant structure which covers an expanse of 3.88 hectares of land and 45,000 square metres, told Emerald News that the building of the secretariat has ended years of paying rent for government ministries spread across the city of Asaba. Prior to the development of the secretariat, most of the ministries with their staff were housed in different parts of the city, making administration cumbersome.
Gbagi described the sprawling structure as the best state secretariat in the entire country judging from its components, office facilities and the fact that the entire offices are digitised. Movement from one office to the other is now done using elevators, hence it has reduced burden of carrying files on workers.
Olorogun Gbagi, an industrialist of repute, told our reporter that with the new secretariat in place, Governor Okowa will be leaving behind an unbeatable legacy which he will be remembered for in many years to come. He said Governor Okowa has printed his name in gold and will be remembered as a leading light in the affairs of Delta state.
He said going through the edifice, one could see a beautiful architectural design which was carefully and tastefully executed to meet the demands of the 21st century civil servant in a globalised and digitised economy. With the facilities in the secretariat, Gbagi said Delta workers cannot but put in their best for maximum service delivery to the people of Delta state.
He said the administration and execution of government programmes and policies will now be carried out with ease as the burden of traveling from one end of Asaba to the other and carrying files from one ministry to the other has finally come to a permanent end. For him, the burden of civil servants has been removed. For those who were not having enough office accommodations, now there is enough space for all. Every facility in the offices are new brands just fitted in.
He noted that civil servants can now carry out their duties in an inviting, conducing and lovely environment with all the state of the art facilities provided by the government. The complex has a creche, a clinic, restaurant, business centres, all built in for the pleasure, satisfaction and welfare of civil servants. He said Okowa’s vision for the project is not unconnected with the fact that the governor has been in government over the years and he knows the pains, needs and desires of workers. Coupled with the fact that the governor pays salaries as at when due, Delta workers are in for good.
Gbagi, the frontline Delta guber aspirant, told this reporter that he believes that for workers to put in their best in a civil service environment, the best facilities must be provided, and that is what the governor has perfectly done.
He said Okowa’s administration is on course and definitely will end up gloriously with smiles on the faces of every Deltan.
He enjoined the workers to use the facilities appropriately, employ good maintenance culture and render their services to the growth and development of the state.
