Pro – Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo state, Ambassador Godknows Igali on Wednesday said that former education minister and Delta guber aspirant, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, has left indelible footprint while serving under former President Goodluck Jonathan.
He said Gbagi’s presence and achievements left indelible marks in Nigeria, a feat which will forever be remembered with laurels.
Ambassador Igali who was a former secretary to the Bayelsa state government and present secretary of PANDEF, a pro Niger Delta group, revealed that as a former member of the federal executive council, Gbagi’s input cannot be easily forgotten.
He said it was under him as education minister that 12 federal universities were established around the six geopolitical zones of the country.
Igali, who spoke during the press week organised by members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ in Warri, added that the 12 universities Gbagi established are doing well “and it is better for the country.”
He described Gbagi as a man of many parts, very versatile, “with life straddling from academia, business, politics and community leadership.”
He said Gbagi’s foray into business and entrepreneurship has put foot on the table of many families. He noted that many families in Nigeria are taking care of their homes through Gbagi’s investments.
He said many members of the then federal executive council doubted the possibility of establishing 12 universities at the same time, but he said Gbagi proved them wrong, saying as at today the universities are standing and producing students for Nigeria.
