On Tuesday, November 9, there was tension in Ihiala local government area, of Anambra state as gunmen and the security operatives clashed.
it was gathered that some suspected operatives of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the militant wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the police engaged for over three hours at Osumoghu junction.
According to reports, the attack happened in Mbosi and Osumoghu (Ihiala towns) while INEC was conducting the supplementary governorship election in Ihiala.
As you may know, Mbosi and Osumoghu are border towns, with communities in Imo state.
It was gathered that the gunmen were seeking to enter Ihiala through Imo state and the development forced joint security operatives to block the Mbosi/Osumoghu junction bordering Imo state.
The joint security agents involving mobile cops, Army, Navy and other security offices prevented journalists attempting to pass Osumoghu junction..
A police officer told the journalists;
“You have to go back for your own good. For three hours now, we have been exchanging fire with your IPOB brothers.
“Our men are in the bush now, and it will be risky for you to take this route”
