A 32-year-old man, Biodun Adebiyi was on Sunday, December 5, arrested for allegedly beating a 30-years-old cigarette seller to death over N50 balance.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP, Abimbola Oyeyem, the suspect was arrested at his residence in Lagos after the deceased’s father, Adamu Abubakar reported the case to the police.
Sharing the story of how it all happened, the complainant told the police that the suspect came to his shop at Ajegunle area of Idiroko to buy cigarettes and his son, Mukaila Adamu, attended to him.
However, the suspect later came back to the shop and demanded his balance of N50.
This led to an argument between him and his son. The argument escalated as the suspect descended heavily on his son with blows.
Sadly, the victim collapsed immediately and he was rushed to hospital where he was confirmed dead upon arrival.
The suspect is currently in police custody while the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
