National Vice President of the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights, Comrade Kehinde Taiga on Friday called for the a total crackdown on Oghior community in Udu local government area of Delta state.
Taiga told Emerald News on phone that he, along side three police officers and one woman suspect escaped being lynched by youths in the community following their intervention in the rescue of the woman suspect from people who would have killed her in the community.
He told our reporter that he with the police officers from Ovwian police station and the president general of the community were in the area to take a 52-year-old man who was stabbed to death by a youth in the area.
He said in the process of taking the dead man to the mortuary, they saw a woman who was held hostage by a group of women on the allegation that she invited the man who stabbed the 52-year-pld man to death.
The policemen in his vehicle decided to take the woman along with them in a bid to rescue her from the her abductors who might kill her if left with them on the allegation that she invited the man that killed the deceased.
But while they drove off with the woman, he said the son of the woman reportedly pounced on them saying his mother must not be arrested by the police.
He attacked his car with cudgels and destroyed his windscreen. But he was able to escape with the police officers and the woman to the police station in Ovwian Aladja.
