The people of Ezeumunne Agunaugboma which comprises Umuagu, Ugbomanta and Iyagba layout of Asaba have sealed some houses and landed properties built on their land at Infant Jesus extension, phase two axis of Asaba.
Speaking with newsmen in a protest organised by the youths and elders of the communities, the legal Adviser of the Community, Barr. Henry Madumezie who led the team of Ezeumunne Agunaugboma to seal the land disclosed that the Court has given them order to take what rightly belongs to them.
According to him, his communities won a court judgement against some set of people that sold their community lands illegally to different individuals in Asaba.
And they waited for a resolution which till date there was no response from the people that encroached their lands.
Presently, he said the court has given us an execution order which gave rise to my people to demolish their land and properties that have been encroached.
He said, the land encroached is against the lawful master plan of the capital territory, Asaba so it is our land by right.
According to him, the court judgement was given in 2009 and till date, people are still encroaching in their lands.
He added that the government is fully in support of the execution order and if the people refuse to identify themselves with the people of his communities, there will be demolition of buildings in no time.
He said “There is need for the public to know that large land like Amilimocha, Onaododo, Aniulo and its tributies along the bank of the River Niger strenching from the back of Asaba township Stadium down to the bank of the River Niger up to the boundary of illah town belongs to Agunaugboma Ezeumunne family in Asaba.
He commended his people for turning up in support of the court officials who carried out the execution order. He further commended the court for the issuance of the execution order, else, it would have been been that the court sat in vain.
