President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed disappointment over the attack on Kuje prison where not less than 600 inmates were said to have escaped with 64 hardened members of the Boko Haram insurgents. The incident was said to have happened at about 10.30pm on Tuesday where the security agents at the prison formation were taken unawares.

Many persons are asking questions as to how insurgents could break into the facility with security men on ground. Many government officials had visited the facility to assess the level of damage and ask series of questions on the possibility of bombing the facility and letting hardened criminals and others escape.

In a tweet on Wednesday, President Buhari expressed sadness over the development, noting that it was unthinkable for criminals to break into such a facility with security men on ground. In the tweet, he asked many questions which can only be answered by security officials on ground.

He said: “Saddened by the attack on the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje. I am disappointed with the intelligence system. How can terrorists organize, have weapons, attack a security installation and get away with it? I am expecting a comprehensive report on this shocking incident.”

Many Nigerians have expressed disappointment over the failure of the administration of President Buhari to provide security for Nigerians and infrastructures in the country. It was also on Tuesday, the president’s advanced team was ambushed and sporadic gunshots released on them on the way to his Katsina, the president’s home state.

On daily basis, there are series of killings orchestrated by armed bandits and terrorists in various parts of the country. No part of the country, East, West, North, South, is safe for citizens of the country. Roads also are not safe. Abuja-Kaduna road is one of the deadliest highways in the country.
