Expert has recommended renewable energy and digitizing the energy usage as the way forward to improving electricity in Nigeria.
Speaking recently at the just concluded 2023 IoT West Africa conference & exhibition held at the Landmark center, Victoria Island Lagos, the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Vertex group Shitij Taneja explained that when energy is digitalized, then it can be monitored to know what is happening and where it is happening; which can also help to determine where there is energy leakage.
According to Shitij, technology is the way forward in Nigeria. “We see a lot of startups and investors that are investing into Nigeria’s technology as startups and what we are trying to achieve is to position west Africa as the hub for digital energy. We are bringing the India industries to Nigeria to help drive the technology because India is known as a technology hub. We are trying to move the technology solutions that India has to Nigeria because Nigeria already has the capacity as more people are into information technology as a career. We see Nigeria as the silicon valley of Africa. The number of youths that are getting more involved in technology and being more enthusiastic about the energy problem which can be solved through technology is the reason we are doing what we are doing today,” he said.
The CCO further explained that in the next 5years, Nigeria will be one of the leading technology hubs of Africa; adding that a lot of companies have started to invest in Nigeria and when Vertex Group brings in more manufacturing companies to Nigeria, there will be more employment opportunities and training centers for the youths.
The three- day event hosted over 70 firms exhibiting their products and services which started on Tuesday 4th and ended on Thursday 6th July, 2023.
