High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has denied reports circulating on social media claiming he issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
In a statement signed by his media consultant, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo described the publication as “false, mischievous, and the handiwork of enemies bent on tarnishing his image and discrediting his work” in the Niger Delta.
The statement read:
“We wish to state unequivocally and unambiguously that Tompolo did not author the said publication. High Chief Ekpemupolo has nothing to do with the issue of Nnamdi Kanu. It is clearly the handiwork of Tompolo’s enemies, who are out there to discredit and pull him down because of his stand against illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta region.”
Tompolo, who serves as the Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to eradicate oil theft and illegal refining in the region.
He further reassured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of his loyalty and support for the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” adding that he remains a firm supporter of the President’s second-term ambition.
“Tompolo is with Mr. President and will continue to support the renewed agenda of his government. He remains firm in his endorsement of the President for a second term and continues to work for its realization,” the statement added.
The former Niger Delta militant leader urged the public and the Federal Government to disregard the viral report, describing it as “a deliberate attempt to sow discord and distract from the progress being made in securing oil assets in the region.”
The statement reaffirmed Tompolo’s resolve to continue his operations in safeguarding national oil infrastructure and combating crude oil theft in collaboration with relevant authorities.
