Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has appointed Rt Hon. Ochor Christopher Ochor as the new Chairman of the state’s Tourism Board, ushering in a fresh phase for the development and promotion of the state’s tourism sector.
Ochor, a well-known political figure with an extensive leadership background, is expected to leverage his expertise to showcase Delta State’s vast cultural heritage, natural beauty, and untapped tourism potential.
In a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, the Governor expressed confidence that Ochor’s appointment would invigorate efforts to position Delta State as a premier tourism destination in Nigeria and beyond.
Ochor, with his proven leadership capabilities, is tasked with driving initiatives aimed at boosting the state’s economy through sustainable tourism practices.
Joining Ochor on the newly constituted Tourism Board are:
Chief Mrs. Esther Okotie Eboh
Chief Shedrack Imonioro
Dr. Genevieve Uzoma Mordi
These appointees, each with distinguished careers in their respective fields, bring a wealth of experience to the board, which will focus on advancing the tourism sector by tapping into Delta State’s diverse cultural traditions, historical landmarks, and breathtaking landscapes.
The Tourism Board is expected to spearhead initiatives to preserve and promote Delta State’s unique cultural identity while attracting both local and international tourists. In his statement, Governor Oborevwori expressed his confidence that the newly appointed members would contribute significantly to the economic diversification of Delta State.
The Governor emphasized that the date for the official inauguration of the boards would be communicated in due course, as plans are set in motion to formally launch their mandates.

It could be recalled that RT. Hon Ochor Christopher Ochor was the Deputy Speaker while the present Governor was the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly for four years.
