The Ebonyi state publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Nwoba Chika, on Wednesday, fainted in court, following four days in police detention.
Nwoba was brought to the Magistrate Court two sitting in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi state, to be summoned for alleged 15 count-charge bordering on fake news and others by a team of police officers.
Recall that Nwoba was allegedly arrested by Ebubeagu Security outfit and handed over to the police, yet the police neglected to charge him to court for the past four days.
News gathered that the authorities of the police demanded that the victim, Nwoba should be charged in court either in any condition, alive or dead.
Nwoba was taken back to the court after the police team had rushed him to the emergency clinic to be resuscitated.
The police examiner, Mathas Eze, said the victim, Nwoba, was very healthy while in their custody and expressed shock that he could slump immediately he was brought to the court for arraignment.
The counsel to the victim, Barr. Luke Nkwegu, expressed worries that the police insisted on arraigning his client either in any condition, dead or alive.
The Magistrate, Blessing Chukwu, after hearing the matter, requested that the victim, Nwoba be taken to the clinic for medical treatment.
She expressed that the victim, Nwoba can’t be arriagned because of chronic ill health.
The case was adjourned to January 14, 2022 for further hearing.
