Pastor William Kumuyi, the general superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has called on Christians to hold on to the word of God they have received, saying whether there is pandemic or not, Christians must keep the faith they have received.
Pastor Kumuyi was speaking on the sermon “The Prevailing Power of Persecuted Christians” during the Sunday service held on Sunday. The message was transmitted to members of the church, some in their homes, others in their local assemblies in states where permission has been given to begin Sunday service.
The holiness preacher said Christians should not fear troubles as Christ their Saviour will see them through, adding that believers should remain faithful to God as a crown of righteousness is waiting for those who endured to the end.
His message dwelt essentially on the church in Smyrna in Revelation Chapter 2 verses 8 to 10 where Jesus advised the Smyrna Christians not to fear what they would suffer as the devil would cast some of them into prison and that they would have tribulation 10 days.
He said suffering should not take the crown of life from believers. He said God has promise for all believers and the promise will definitely be fulfilled. But while waiting for the fulfillment of the promise, troubles and challenges are bound to come but believers must remain steadfast and keep their faith in Christ.
He quoted 2 Timothy chapter 4 verse 7 and 8 where Apostle Paul says: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the righteous judge shall give to me at that day…”
Arising from this, he enjoined Christians to endure persecution as there will be victory and a crown at the end of this troubled world. He said Christians should keep looking unto Jesus, saying as Christians do so every tribulation shall be overcome until the last day.
