The Mayor of Urhoboland and prominent ex-militant leader, Eshanakpe Israel a.k.a Akpodoro, has called on the secuirty agencies and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL to focus more attention outside the western axis of the Nigeria waterways.
Akpodoro’s call is coming on the heels of the security agency’s renewed interest in combating the menace of oil theft in the Niger Delta region. He said the western axis is being manned by the Tantita Security Services Nig Ltd, TSSNL owned and managed by the High Chief Government Ekpemukpolo a.k.a Tomopolo.
The Mayor stated this is a telephone chat with our correspondent over the weekend noting that the entire Nigerian waters should be awarded to the TSSNL rather than allow leakages from other areas manned by weak contractors who are fast becoming clogs in the wheel of progress in the war against oil thieves.
According to the Mayor, that axis under the operational areas of the leader of TSSNL is water-tight in terms of protection of the pipelines and the contractor should be encouraged by expanding his operational scope.
Akpodoro who is a passionate stakeholder in the security, growth and development of the Niger Delta region stated further that TSSNL has demonstrated enough capacity and the will to manage the protection and security of the entire spread of the oil pipelines in the region and beyond irrespective of the works of devious and desperate elements who are jealous of the success and achievements of the High Chief and his firm.
Akpodoro is of the view that since other contractors are not living up to the terms of the agreement reached with the federal government, their contracts could be withdrawn and handed over to TSSNL adding that the security of national assets should not be kept under neophites who think the contract is a mere “jobs for the boys.”
Security of pipelines, according to the Mayor, requires expertise and patriotism like Nigerians have witnessed in the skillful operations of the TSSNL stating that it won’t be a bad idea to disengage failed contractors and cede their areas of dereliction to a firm whose progress grows by the moments.
Akpodoro pointed out that the plummeting Nigeria’s quota in the International oil market could spike up with a concerted and calculated actions aimed at perfecting all imperfections in operations of the contractors handing other oil facilities’ corridors by ceding same to a more competent firm like TSSNL.
“Nigeria’s oil quota among the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC has no business falling rather it should grow in volume if the waterways are well protected including oil facilities and all these factors militating against the security of our national assets.
“We all are witnesses to the conspiracies against the operations of TSSN abinitio until the firm was able to outperform its attackers and rivals. So, now that security leakages have become the bane of the nation’s oil production, it follows that other weak contractors be disengaged and allow the contract to be added to what Tompolo’s firm is handling. Such move will be more beneficial to the nation,” the Mayor stated as he commended TSSNL for its effective protection of the oil facilities against oil thieves.
