A man identified as Uchenna Nwobi has been arrested by The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State command, for allegedly defiling his two biological daughters aged 5 and 3 years.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, 19 October in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Anambra State Ministry for Women and Social Welfare received a tip-off from a whistle blower and immediately, Hon. Ify Obinabo, the commissioner for Anambra State Ministry for Women and Social Welfare through her Sexual and Gender Based Violence Response team swung into action.
As reported by LIB, the incident was immediately reported to NSCDC by the team and investigation began.
During the course of investigation, the suspect was arrested and the children rescued. It was revealed that the suspect, Uchenna has been molesting the minors since 2020 after he had sent his wife, the children’s mother packing on the basis of marital issues.
Uchenna is currently on detention for molestation and abuse. He would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
The children were first taken to the hospital, Ntasi Centre in Enugwu-Ukwu where a doctor confirmed that they were defiled.
According to reports by LIB, there were fresh bruises and swelling on the children’s private part as at when they were rushed to the hospital.
The Commissioner for Anambra State Ministry for Women and Social Welfare, while addressing the issue in her office in Awka, publicly announced that she would charge both the man and his estranged wife to court and ensures that she leaves no storn unturned.
However, Uchenna Nwobi, the suspect and father of the victims denied the allegations. He said he was not aware that his children were being molested let alone being the molestor. Uchenna has sworn to deal with whoever gave out the information.
