It is the pride of every woman to have husbands of their own who they mostly refer to as their crown but it is not so in the life of this divorcee, Ms. Janet Obake.

Ms. Obake told Emerald News in a chat that she enjoys herself as a single mother to the fullest.

Emerald News gathered that Ms. Obake said she has no regrets being a single mother of two children, stating that since she divorced her husband ten years ago, she has peace of mind.

According to Obake, she married her former husband twenty years ago as a teenager, adding that she passed through hell in his hands.

She told this medium that because of her sporadic growth, men started asking her hands in marriage when she was in Junior Secondary School (JSS) 3, but her parents declined them as they had the intention of training her up to the higher institution level.

Ms. Obake said that while she was in Senior Secondary School (SSS) 3, her estranged husband came and pestered hard on her parents, promising that he would help her realize her dream of being a  graduate.

She added that she and her parents were not aware that her husband who pretended to be a good man was a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The divorcee noted that after their marriage and wedding ceremonies, her ex- husband whom she profusely cursed that it shall never be well with him started abusing her.

Ms. Obake said that before six months of her marriage, her husband who was 38 years then started showing the beast in him.

According to her, he would come back at the midnight and would start beating her for no just cause except that she would ask him why he was keeping late nights.

She said that both her parents and his parents in-law were worried about her former husband’ s behaviour but they would always come and scold him and then ask her to exercise patience now that she has taken in for him.

According to her, the former husband continued using her as a punching bag and made her life miserable.

” It was when I found out that he was still having an affair with his girlfriend before he married me that I knew that it was in his girlfriend’ s house she spent most of his time.

All efforts by my parents and his parents to stop him proved abortive”.

She added that after giving birth to her first baby girl, she nursed the idea of leaving the marriage but it did not work out for her as she got pregnant again barely four months after giving birth to the first baby.

Ms. Obake who said that she does not like narrating what she went through in her marriage told this meduim that the worst part of the former husband’s character was that he would always force her to sleep with him and he would not mind beating her to make her succumb to his will.

“I had a four months baby and became pregnant immediately even when he was not caring for me and the baby.  So my father came one day and met me with bruises all over my body, he got angry and took me and my baby home.

“When my former husband came to our house to look for me, my father dealt mercelessly with him and vowed that I will not marry him again”.

She said that she struggled through carrying her pregnant nine months with her first baby, adding that it was her caring parents and siblings that helped her to carry the children while she enrolled back in school and later graduated in the university.

She said that many women pass through this in their marriage but because they want to answer married women, they remain in the bondage.

Ms. Obake who is a banker said she was happy with her life and career, adding that she now takes care of her children single handedly.

She praised her parents and siblings whom she said were her backbone.
